I’m a licensed mental health professional operating a private, family-oriented practice in Chattanooga, TN.

My sensitivity to your privacy is reflected in everything I do. In a Twitter-driven world, it seems our lives are being dissected by every phone and computer screen in the world. This creates vulnerability, and makes it even harder to be true to ourselves.

I do not believe this is conducive to counseling--which is one reason I require no preliminary paperwork, and have made the conscious decision to not take insurance.

How I Can Help

Whether you are new to therapy or a seasoned client, that first visit can be hard. My goal is to make the experience user-friendly. I want you to feel safe and comfortable to do the work you came to do.

I knew early on that I wanted to be a therapist. It is my calling. I have a deep passion for helping people find those little changes that can make such huge differences in the way one experiences life.

I have been in private practice since 2000. Before that, I practiced in a wide variety of settings. I have worked with adolescents, adults and older adults and their families. I have a special fondness for working with families and couples. My objective is to offer you supportive solutions for life challenges.

Areas Where I Work
Relationships: I have had my own share of challenges in this arena, so I have been forced to educate myself on how to do relationships better.
Self-esteem: Poor self-esteem is an inside job. If we count on outside experiences for feeling good about ourselves, we’re in trouble.
Hypnosis: I find this is a helpful tool for those who are interested in releasing stuck places in particular.
Anxiety Management: I use mindful techniques and CBT to increase coping and decrease symptoms.
Depression: I offer personal hope that one can overcome long-standing, overwhelming depression.

I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Southern Adventist University and a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of TN at Knoxville.

I am a Reality Therapist by training. I also have extensive experience in CBT, Solutions-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. My goal, however, is to meet you where you are and work together to find a new way of thinking and doing that changes things from the inside out. It’s about creating tools that you can use to your benefit for the rest of your life.
